Princes and Priests begins as ten strangers survive a shipwreck inside the Great Barrier Shield that leaves them with few resources. With winter coming early on the northern coast, they must band together and step into this warped and wild continent. The priests feel uneasy with the quiet Purtan, Shannon, and questions are whispered as to whom he is. Is it just the magics of an ancient and nearly lost race, or is there something darker about him? Not only must they be wary of the warped hostile creatures of Backin, Shannon knows that they are being pursued by Gerome, the pontiff and once Shannon’s soul-bonded partner, in the deadliest game of all. As in the journey across Brackin, Shannon is somehow at the center of events. Through hardships and most incredulous circumstances, members of the company who survived Brackin are being drawn together to aid and support one another in the fight to free Purt from the evil of Gerome, who is fraudulently both emperor and pontiff. The depth of the evil and the great web of interlocking events from the past to the present challenge these and other members of the company as they seek to free the world from the evil that threatens to overwhelm it.
